Benjamin Pinterest wavesThere were times when I would go through massive waves of grief. I would be overwhelmed, paralyzed and heaving for every breath. These episodes would last only a few minutes, but they would come out of nowhere and take over.

I found during those experiences I just had to ride it out. I had to lean into it and let it take its course. When those massive waves subside, I discovered that it led to an expansion of heart, to a deeper way of relating to my life and those that I love.

However, the most important thing about getting to the other side of those overwhelming waves was that I came to experience that this was part of the covenant, the promise that they will always be part of me. This pain was the adhesive that brought us together in that moment and would bring us together in moments to come.
